Reddit appears to be having some issues, as many users can’t get the platform to load reliably. Its status page says Reddit is experiencing “degraded performance” across the web and mobile apps, and that it’s “currently investigating the issue.”
For many Reddit users, myself included, the site doesn’t load at all and simply displays the error message: “upstream connect error or disconnect/reset before headers. reset reason: connection failure.” On Reddit’s mobile app, users are getting another message that says, “We have encountered an error. Please try again later.” It looks like Reddit may end up loading if you keep refreshing the page, but it only seems to fix the problem temporarily.
The outage seems to have started around 3:20PM ET, with Down Detector reports spiking around that time. The Verge reached out to Reddit to see when it expects to restore functionality but didn’t immediately hear back.
